Pluck Launches Industry's First Service to Syndicate Blog Content Through Traditional Media Outlets
BlogBurst™ Allows Bloggers to Expand Their Reach Via Traditional Media Outlets; Publishers Tap Into Content from Over 700 of the World's Best Blogs
AUSTIN, Texas — April 11, 2006 — PluckTM Corporation, a social media technology pioneer, today announced the launch of BlogBurst, the industry's first blog syndication service linking new and traditional media with a blog-powered news wire service for media outlets around the world. More than 700 top bloggers are already active in the BlogBurst network. In addition, The Washington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, Gannett, The Houston Chronicle, The San Antonio Express-News and The Austin American-Statesman, have signed up as Lighthouse Customers to include blog headlines and posts as part of their news and features sections.
"BlogBurst offers editors a way to supplement their news coverage or give readers deeper content in important niche areas of their site," said Scott Clark, vice president and editor, HoustonChronicle.com. "Either way, BlogBurst helps increase the diversity of voices on a site, which should be a goal for everyone working on the Web."
Bloggers who want to syndicate their content through BlogBurst can sign up free of charge on www.blogburst.com. Once part of the BlogBurst network, bloggers can continue to post on their blog platform of choice and their posts will be automatically available through the syndication service. For publishers, BlogBurst provides the content delivery tools that make it easy to access continuously-updated blog content and then organize it into topical areas of interest to readers. To date, publishers have expressed interest in promoting blog content in hot topic areas such as travel, women's interests, technology, food, entertainment, and articles from local metros.
All blog posts are fully attributed to widely increase awareness, branding and traffic as blogs are exposed to the millions of readers on publisher web sites. A blogger compensation strategy to directly reward the success of participants in the network is in the works for release later in 2006.
"It is no longer a case of 'us vs. them' when it comes to bloggers and traditional publishers," said Dave Panos, CEO of Pluck Corp. "Both parties realize that they are in the same boat — striving to offer the largest possible audience a variety of compelling and timely content. BlogBurst neatly solves the lack of exposure problem suffered by the vast majority of talented bloggers, while simultaneously satisfying mainstream media's need to scalably introduce first-person perspectives of the highest quality."
Available immediately, publishers and bloggers can access more information about the BlogBurst service at www.blogburst.com.
