Newspapers Around the Globe Turn to Blogs to Add Kick to World Cup Soccer Tournament Coverage
BlogBurst’s WorldCup Blogs Provide Fresh Look at Event from the Fan’s Perspective for Mainstream Media
AUSTIN, Texas — June 28, 2006 — Pluck™ Corporation, a social media technology pioneer, today announced that its BlogBurst™ blog syndication network is feeding World Cup soccer news from blogs around the world to several leading newspapers in the U.S. and U.K., including the Houston Chronicle, the Austin American-Statesman, and London's Guardian. A number of the World Cup blogs, many of which are updated daily from Germany, are giving eager audiences an up-close and personal perspective that spans beyond the sports page to cover both the games and events outside the tournament.
The World Cup bloggers are focusing their posts on everything from game analysis, team and player updates and quests to secure tickets, to hundreds of Brazilian fans dancing the samba before kick off.
"The passion of the World Cup and its fans is well-reflected in the blogosphere," noted Dave Panos, CEO of Pluck. "By bringing the unique, personalized commentary from these bloggers to newspaper audiences in the U.S. and U.K., we are helping to provide readers the man-on-the-street twist on the games, which engages and exposes them to different perspectives on the tournament."
BlogBurst helps World Cup bloggers reach new audiences, while providing publishers with access to timely and immediate coverage of the games. To make it easier for publishers to find and syndicate the World Cup blog content through their own online media properties, BlogBurst created the World Cup BurstWire, a daily update of the best posts from the BlogBurst network of World Cup-related blogs.
