Pluck Powers washingtonpost.com's New
Social Media Capabilities

Leading News Site Deploys Reader Commentary, Blogs, Profiles and Member-Based Forums

AUSTIN , Texas September 4, 2007 — Pluck Corporation today announced that washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive has incorporated Pluck’s SiteLife Social Media Suite into the washingtonpost.com Web site. The move provides site-wide user-generated content and social networking features that allow readers to interact with editors and other readers via story-level comments, blogs and topic-targeted communities around various news stories and themes.

Pluck SiteLife is designed to help publishers better engage readers and build online communities through blogs, photo-sharing, content ratings, reader comments, profiles, social networking, forums and more. washingtonpost.com is using SiteLife to allow readers to comment directly on news, opinions, and columns and to create member-based topic groups on local issues, politics, and national news with discourse moderated by top editorial staff.

The personalized “MyPost” pages also allow readers to upload an image, publish biographical information, track discussion groups they're a part of and keep a friend list. It will also aggregate all comments a reader leaves on washingtonpost.com articles. Additionally, “MyPost” pages can serve as a starting point for direct interaction among readers.
