Details
The Application Workbench includes a visual builder that can be used by junior developers, or even non-technical staff, to create and deploy Collections widgets and other community features. The builder’s drop-down WYSIWYG tools simplify and accelerate the development of compelling community services.
The Workbench also includes a number of commonly used developer services. The Cookie Creator facilitates single sign-on. The Data Viewer provides access to data model elements. And the Code Validator ensures script compatibility.
The Application Workbench has built-in awareness of the wider Pluck environment. It supports system-wide services – including user tier management and moderation policies – that change infrequently. It surfaces to developers Pluck elements that can be modified, including system strings and preferences, and ensures their appropriate access and usage. It makes available directly within the Workbench Pluck documentation, code examples, best practices and links to the Pluck Connect developer community. Finally, it lets developers manage much of the development and deployment process, including build, patch and upgrade scheduling, management, verification and other deployment-oriented tasks inside the Workbench.
The Workbench’s use of overlays lets developers manage the look and feel of commonly themed applications across the Pluck system via a centralized resource for rapid cross-application deployments and visual updates. The tool presents CSS, HTML, Velocity, JavaScript and more for rapid, inherited manipulation.
